Reston, VA – June 25, 2019—Meridian Knowledge Solutions today announced that it has partnered with K12 Inc., the nation’s leading provider of proprietary K-12 curriculum and online education programs, to offer teachers at K12-powered schools the opportunity to take foundation-level courses toward a Master’s in Education in Online Instruction at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU).
Meridian delivers mission-critical compliance and skill training initiatives for K-12 teachers and staff in various school districts. Using Meridian, teachers at K12-powered schools will receive comprehensive training in online instruction methods, have access to skill-expanding training, and be better equipped to meet individual students’ needs.
“We envision an education landscape that allows students to move beyond the physical walls of the classroom and embark on a lifetime of limitless learning. The partnership that K12 has with SNHU and with Meridian will allow us to do the same for our employees,” said Niyoka McCoy, Vice President, Talent Development & Community at K12 Inc. “Together, we are building an innovative professional development offering that will impact the way we retain and attract high-quality teachers. Now, when a teacher ‘walks’ into a virtual school, they are also invited into a personalized opportunity that unlocks their full potential.”
Teachers enroll in up to six specializations in online education created by SNHU, with the first specialization delivered via the Meridian LMS platform. Each specialization is composed of two graduate-level courses. SNHU tracks completed courses, awarding credits to students who wish to enroll in their new Master in Online Instruction degree program.
“K12 has been a client of Meridian since 2010,” said Kathy Gales, Senior Manager, Teacher Training and Education at K12. “Our business needs and those of teachers at K12-powered schools have evolved significantly since then, and Meridian has continually solicited our input to grow with us and advance our key strategic efforts, including this initiative with SNHU.”
“We have worked together with K12 to manage teacher training and education for nearly a decade,” said Paul Terry, Chief Strategy & Operations Officer at Meridian. “We are thrilled to support this exciting new effort and play a significant role in their launch with SNHU of the first-ever Masters in Online Learning program.”
