Patented Cloud Compliance Automation Technology

Technology developed through Meridian’s FedRAMP® 20x journey to automate continuous cloud compliance validation, evidence, and attestation.

Meridian Knowledge Solutions has been granted U.S. Patent No. 12,739,284, Cloud Environment Compliance Automation Methods and Systems, for technology designed to automate critical elements of cloud security compliance.

Meridian developed and used this technology while achieving FedRAMP® 20x Class C certification, addressing the need for a more automated, continuous, and machine-readable approach to validating cloud compliance.

Moving Beyond Point-in-Time Compliance

Traditional cloud compliance processes often rely on periodic assessments, manual evidence collection, and individual technical checks, which provide only a snapshot of compliance at a specific moment.

Cloud environments do not stand still. Configurations change. New resources are introduced. Security requirements evolve. A control that passed during one assessment may no longer be operating as intended a week or even hours later.

Meridian’s patented approach was designed to address that gap by continuously validating cloud environments against defined compliance requirements and producing structured evidence that can be consumed programmatically.

How the Patented Approach Works

The patented technology connects compliance requirements with the actual technical state of a cloud environment. Rather than relying on a single check to determine whether a requirement is being met, the system can gather and correlate information from multiple sources across the cloud environment.

The patented methods include capabilities for:

Connecting Cloud Security and GRC

A central element of Meridian’s patented technology is its ability to bridge technical cloud security validation with Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) workflows.

The architecture can translate technical cloud findings into control-level compliance attestations that include supporting evidence and structured compliance data.

This allows GRC platforms and other systems to programmatically consume compliance information rather than depending solely on manual evidence collection and human-readable reports.

Built Through Meridian’s FedRAMP 20x Experience

Meridian did not develop this technology as a theoretical exercise.

We built and used it while working through the technical requirements necessary to achieve FedRAMP 20x Class C certification for Meridian LMS.

That experience required Meridian to address firsthand many of the challenges created by the shift toward greater automation, continuous validation, and machine-readable security evidence. The resulting technology became the foundation of U.S. Patent No. 12,739,284.

For federal organizations evaluating Meridian LMS, the patent is another demonstration of Meridian’s investment in security engineering and our experience operating within the FedRAMP 20x model.

Potential Applications Across the Cloud Compliance Ecosystem

Although Meridian developed the technology through our own FedRAMP work, its applications are not limited to learning technology.

The patented methods may be relevant to organizations involved in automating, validating, or managing cloud compliance, including:

  • Governance, Risk and Compliance platforms
  • FedRAMP Third-Party Assessment Organizations (3PAOs)
  • Government cloud providers
  • Cloud security and cybersecurity platforms
  • Organizations developing compliance automation capabilities
  • Technology providers supporting federal and regulated cloud environments

For organizations already investing in cloud compliance automation, Meridian’s technology may offer opportunities to accelerate existing capabilities, integrate automated validation and evidence into current platforms, or support new approaches to continuous compliance.

Open to Strategic Discussions

Meridian is open to strategic discussions with organizations interested in understanding the patented technology and exploring potential applications. Opportunities may include technology licensing, integration, partnership or other strategic uses of the intellectual property.
