What is LMS Architecture?

By Meridian Knowledge Solutions

It’s 2023, and the way in which we operate, learn, and collaborate has evolved tremendously. For highly regulated industries, it’s important to have a learning management system that can adapt and impact the organization. This is where having an LMS architecture can be a great asset not only for training the internal team but also for those learning outside of the organization.

What is LMS architecture?

Learning management system architecture has been a hot topic for the past few years and can vary among learning management systems. For the Meridian LMS, the focus is equipping an organization to segment learner populations and have the insight to manage them all within one system.

Custom Branding

Custom branding comes in handy for designing catalog items for one learner environment and having the ability to have different branding for another. This can consist of brand colors, images, and, most importantly, multiple domain URLs. Creating separate URLs allows for a unique and personalized experience for all learner populations. An LMS with multi-domain capability allows the administrator to control what content is viewable to certain populations. Not only are multiple domains a win for administrators because of the time savings, but they are also beneficial for learners because they can tailor learning to their specific needs.  With separate URL distinctions, these learner populations will have accurate catalog recommendations within their interface and high-level viewing access to material that is relevant to their role.

Extended Enterprise

While branding is just one piece of the puzzle, having this structure allows the organization to become more streamlined. An extended enterprise allows you to meet the needs of training internal employees for onboarding and compliance purposes. However, an extended enterprise LMS will meet the mark if you are interested in offering training beyond your internal employees to partners or customers. Training offerings for multiple learner populations could result in efficient business processes and significant cost savings. An LMS that can go beyond internal employees can significantly positively impact the quality of training for the organization as a whole and streamline the process for administrators.

LMS architecture can have many different meanings for learning management systems, but the Meridian LMS allows the user to customize their branding, utilize multiple URLs for different populations, and specify catalog accessibility. By delivering an entirely customized experience to the extended enterprise, you can optimize your chances for employee retention, boost overall business performance, and maximize client satisfaction.
